Dress Code

Science Academy of Chicago has a dress code policy to help create a safe and orderly environment, instill discipline, and eliminate the competition and distractions caused by varied dress styles. Students are expected to arrive in dress code every day. The uniforms will be provided by SAC. Please cooperate, display modesty and neatness, and take pride in these clean, neat and attractive uniforms. We rely on your common sense and your parents' and/or guardians' support in helping maintain this dress code.

1st & 2nd graders are required to wear their gym uniform to school on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.  Thursday they will wear their polo’s and tan khaki bottoms, and Friday our student council runs a “Friday Dress Down”.

3rd-8th graders are required to come to school in their school uniform, tan khaki bottoms and SAC polo or hooded sweatshirt. They are also required to change for gym class, SAC t- shirt, gym friendly bottoms and gym shoes.

“Friday Dress Down”

Our student council body runs a fundraiser every Friday. They use the funds for many different things. Last year, they purchased new pets and pet food for our science lab.

The students are free from wearing their school uniform on Fridays, for a fee of 50 cents. We expect the students to dress appropriately. This is not mandatory for them to participate, but if they do not come in with their uniform they are expected to pay the fee.

“Field Trip Days”
We usually have our field trips on Fridays, for all field trips, no matter what day of the week, the students must be in their SAC polo and tan, khaki bottoms. If it is cold, they may wear their SAC hooded sweatshirts.
