  • 10 gold medals at 2008 Regional State Science Fair! Congratulations to our 7 and 8 graders. Our 8th grader, Conrad Wight, recieved a "Superior Project Award" from the paper session.

    Three students made it to the State Science Fair. Conrad Wight was awarded a gold medal and the "Best project in the state in microbiology field" award!! Congratulations to Esma and Bruce for geting silver medals.


  • 2007 Continental Mathematics League (CML) witnessed another success of SAC: Nicholai Avramov, our 8th grader, is one of the 20 National Student Leaders for the 2006-2007 CML competition. Nicholai got a perfect score of 30 in the competition this year.

    Science Academy of Chicago is one of the Leading Schools in CML 2007. There are 23 leading schools from all around the nation, all with 36 points.


  • Great turnout at 2006-2007 Illinois Mathematics League this year. Again SAC is the number 1 school in the league with 192 points! Three eight graders from SAC are among top students. Richard C., Griffin C. ranked first, while Nicholai A. ranked 14th in the league. (184 schools participated)

    Two of our seven graders also were among the top students for the seven grade. Jeet P. and Bruce W. are on the tenth place among all students of the league with the score of 35 (186 schools participated)

    Our fifth grader Haluk S. did a great job too. He ranked first in the region and was about top students in the league among sixth graders (188 schools participated)


 

  • 2007 Regional Science Fair was a huge success! Congratulations to all our students, parents and staff! It definetely was a team effort that counted the most.

    15 SAC students recieved a gold medal and many recieved Special Awards.Way to go 7 & 8 graders!

    Three eight graders recieved gold medals from the paper session. Griffin Cox - SUPERIOR ACHIEVEMENT AWARD in the paper session and Gold (State Science Fair). Conrad Wight - SUPERIOR ACHIEVEMENT AWARD in the paper session and Gold (State Science Fair). Isaac Miller got Gold from the paper session in State Science Fair.

     


 

  • Einstein of the future? Who knows... maybe. Nicholai Avramov was the only student in the state to score a perfect score at the American Math League Contest two years in a row. He was also given the honor of "National Student Leader" for the academic year 2005-2006.

    Congratulations to Nicholai for his hard work and dedication.

  • Some might say call it unbelievable, we call it just another success story...

    7A student Fatma Ciftci's project was chosen as the "Best Project in Illinois State." She did an incredible job with her life science project where she traced the DNA of her family. Along with Fatma's achievement, SAC students received 3 Gold and 3 Silver medals at the 2006 Illinois State Science Fair.
  • Congratulations to the whole SAC family.

    SAC visited Chicago City Council, and Chicago's Mayor, Richard M. Daley, congratulated SAC for its achievements.

  • SAC became the Top School in Chicago Non-Public Schools' Science Fair Exposition (May 12, 2006). This year 45 private middle schools attended Chicago Non-public Schools' Science Fair (Region 2). More than 300 projects were exhibited. Titles and awards from this fair:

    Top School in the fair,
    Overall best project,
    9 Projects were selected to go to State Science Fair,
    8 Special Awards,
    24 Gold, 9 Silver and 5 Bronze medals.

  • 6th Annual Science Academy of Chicago Science Fair (SACSF), February 25th, 2006.  Nine schools from the Chicago area were competing this year with more than 100 projects. For pictures and more information visit www.sacsciencefair.org

  • Great Turn out at the Illinois Mathematics League! In the 2004-2005 Illinois Mathematics League Competition at 6th Grade level, Science Academy of Chicago placed 4th school among 212 schools participated in Illinois. Nicholai Avramov, one of our 6th graders,  ranked 1st top student with perfect score in IL. Abrar Syed, another 6th grader, ranked 2nd top student in IL and Liam Wright, 6th grader, ranked 18th top student in IL. This is a great success.   •  Wow!!!!! Nicholai is a National Winner in Continental Mathematics League! In the 2004-2005 Continental Mathematics League Competition at 6th Grade level, Science Academy of Chicago placed 28th among 277 schools participated nationwide. Nicholai Avramov, 6th grader,  is one of the 32 national winners with perfect score. SAC placed 2nd school in the State of IL among 14 middle schools participated. Nicholai  ranked 1st in the State of IL. He is the only student who had perfect score in IL. We congratulate all of our 6th grade students who participated and Mr. Cengiz, who made it come true.   •  History Repeats Itself! SAC is One of the Best Schools in the Regional Science Fair Again! Our students are doing much better every year at Science Fairs. In 2004 Chicago Non-Public Schools Science Exposition by Illinois Junior Academy of Science, 14 SAC students received, 11 Gold Medal, 5 Silver Medal, and 8 Special Award. 5 of our students were also chosen to present their project in State Science Exposition.   • SAC Takes Third Place In National Engineers' Week Chicago Regional Future City Competition... On Saturday, January 29, 2005, at the University of Illinois, Chicago Circle Campus, the Chicago Regional Future City Competition was held as part of National Engineers Week. The mission of the competition is to provide a fun and exciting educational engineering program that combines stimulating engineering challenge with a “hands-on” application to present their vision of a city of the future.   •  (Learning) 3 + (Fun) 2 = Math Camp - December 2004... SAC stresses that students who want to go to the best colleges need extra exposure to academics and teamwork. As part of the preparation for the coming math and science competitions, the students in our 6th and 8th grade Advanced Math Study Teams attended math camp for one week at SAC during the winter break. Also some other sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students came to work on their science olympiad projects.   •  Great Success at the regional science fair (2004) Science Academy is only four years old but its students are doing much more better every year at Science Fairs. Esin Caglayan, Martin Mancha, Zoran Pavlovic, Stephanie Randazzo, Carlos Zamudio, and Nihit Shah got outstanding project prize, which was the top place, in their categories in IJAS Non-public Schools Science Fair 2003 - 2004. Emrehan Ozdere got the first place in his category. We congratulate these students and expect them to keep their success up next year too.  We also congratulate our science teachers, Mr. Uslu and Mr. Karan along with the parents of these students.   •  Young Author's Conference 2004  Every year our school is allowed to send one student representative to the Annual Illinois State Young Author's Conference held at Illinois State University.  At the conference, students in grades K-8 get together to share their love for reading and writing stories with their peers as well as published Illinois authors. This year fifth grader Imani Kuykendoll was chosen to represent Science Academy.  At the conference,  Imani was able to share and discuss her manuscript, "The Haunted House", with a small group of fellow fifth graders.   • Great turn out at the Science Fair... Science Academy of Chicago had its 4th Annual Science Fair on Saturday, December 13, 2003 with a remarkable participation. Students from SAC, where science projects are mandatory and other schools enjoyed showing off their outstanding projects to judges, parents, and guests. One could not miss the enthusiasm and ambition that the students carried out during the fair. They were well prepared and had done projects that were well above their grade level. Science Fair was also an absolute indication of high parental involvement at SAC. All of the parents were present supporting their children and helping their school organizing this event.   • SAC is the top school in math contest... Science Academy of Chicago is the top school in Cook County-Chicago Region in Illinois Math League, in which 229 school participated in the state of Illinois. This is a great success. We congratulate all of the students who participated and Mr. Bora, who made it come true. We will keep it up! SAC parents will witness more success by the day goes.
