Club Descriptions

Mother Goose/Nursery Rhyme with Ms. Danielle Club | PK /JK
Thursday from 3:20 – 4:00 | Limit 20 students  | Rm 165
The club will teach children different Mother Goose rhymes as well as other finger plays.  This will help the children with learning rhyming words which can sometimes be tough at this age as well as using the rhymes/finger plays for engaging in different activities and learn different self-help skills.

Fairy Tale Club with Ms. Cynthia | PK /JK
Monday from 3:20 – 4:00 | Limit 15 students | 161
Introduce children to fairy tales. Learn about characters and setting of different childhood favorites.

iCare with Mrs. Zorin | KG / 1st Grade
Tuesday from 3:15 – 4:00 | Limit 20  students | Rm. 164
iCare club is a very hands on club for children to learn about giving back and volunteering in the community. Children will be making crafts, writing letters, using their STEAM educational skills to reach out to children and adults in need. We will be working very closely with the village of Mount Prospect, nursing homes, and other community organizations. This club is  designed to make giving selflessly to others a normal part of our lives. Mrs. Zorin’s mission is to teach children strong core values, as well as demonstrate these values in action. Our mission is to make our community a happier place!!

Board Game Club with Ms. Levine | KG / 1st Grade
Thursday from 3:20 – 4:00 | Limit 15 students | Rm 169
This club is a fun way for students to interact with each other by playing various board games.  In addition to learning how to cooperate and take turns, students will learn good sportsmanship and enjoy playing different games with their classmates each week.

Puzzles with Mrs. Renko | 2nd / 3rd Grade

will work on word, number, and picture puzzles.

Cross-Stitch Club with Mrs. Alba | 2nd / 3rd Grade
Tuesday from 3:20 – 4:00 | Limit 12 students | Rm 168
Do you know what cross stitching is? It is a popular form of counted-thread embroidery in which you stitch X’s to form a picture. You’ll work on skills such as counting, uniformity and precision. If you’ve ever wanted to learn or already like to do this form of stitchery

Words R Us with Mrs. Zielke | 3rd / 4th / 5th

This club is an opportunity to have fun building words and putting ideas together with board games and word puzzles!

Jump Rope Club with Mrs. Eldek  (PE)| 2nd/3rd/4th
Tuesday from 3:20pm – 4:15pm | Limit 15 students | Gym
Students will learn and practice basic and advance jump rope skills including but not limited to right to left, one foot, side straddles, front saddles, etc.

Chess Team with GM Chess Academy | KG / 1st through 8th Grade

The chess team will allow both beginners and experts to improve their strategy challenge their friends in the game of chess.  The chess team will allow both beginners and experts to improve their strategy challenge their friends in the game of chess.  The class is taught by Grand Master Nikola Mitkov, who has vast experience playing chess and working with individual and school teams.   Please click on the registration information to find out more about the rates.

Lego Engineering Club with Bricks 4 Kidz | KG /1st/2nd 
Friday, from 3:20pm – 4:20pm | Min 10/Limit 24 | $$$$ | Registration Information
Bricks 4 Kidz classes provide students the opportunity to build motorized model builds using Lego bricks, gears and motors. Our programs are built around proprietary model kits, plans and STEM curriculum, designed by teachers, architects and engineers. The activities are interactive, hands-on and engaging to promote learning in a fun way!  Please visit the Bricks 4 Kidz website to enroll and make payment.  This course requires a minimum of 10 students and will notify families once that requirement is met.

Policies

  • Students are limited to two teacher sponsored clubs per an academic year.   Please notify the homeroom teacher on any club changes.
  • Clubs will start after Labor Day, Monday, September 5, 2016.
  • If a student misses two or more club session without notifying the teachers, the student will be removed from the club.  A student from the wait-list will be notified.
