02 / LANGUAGE ARTS

In language arts, the students will explore the study of reading, writing, grammar, speaking, and listening through hands-on exploration, interactive engagement, inquiry, increased integration of technology, and the reading of a variety of literary texts.  Students also participate in writing competitions such as the Illinois Young Authors contest.

The science class is designed to cover the science curriculum standards of Illinois.  The course will also prepare students for science literacy through the innovative curriculum of Next Generation Science Standards via STEMscopes.

04 / COMPUTER SCIENCE

Our advanced computer science curriculum prepares our students for high school and beyond.  Students will have lessons on digital citizenship as well as various Microsoft software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Weekly classes in the art studio offer students a safe space to explore and create art in a caring and nurturing environment. Students will develop language skills as they discuss different art form and the history of art.  Students will also learn to work with new mediums and different techniques.

Regular physical activity is beneficial for overall health and well-being.  Physical education will consist of basic information regarding exercise and the effects of exercise on the body.  It will also cover basic movement skills (skipping, hopping, jumping, throwing, kicking….) along with complex movement skills and how to apply them during games and sports performance.

09/ FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Student have the option pick one of two foreign language to focus on – Spanish or Turkish.  Both courses sought to improve each student’s listening, reading, speaking and writing skills.   In addition, the course will also increase the understanding of the history, culture and traditions of the respective countries that speaks that primary language.
