At SAC, our Math Department is committed to academic excellence by teaching students one grade level above their current grade in mathematics. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to meet each student’s individual path need, ensuring personalized academic growth based on ability and performance. In 7th grade, students are placed in either Pre-Algebra or Algebra I (a 9th-grade level course) according to their beginning-of-year NWEA scores. Students enrolled in Algebra I must successfully pass an end-of-year exit exam. In 8th grade, students advance into one of three pathways—8th Grade Math, Algebra I (9th-grade level), or Geometry (10th-grade level)—providing continued opportunities for challenge, achievement, and preparation for higher-level mathematics.
Our Middle School Art program fosters creativity, skill development, and self-expression in a supportive and inspiring classroom environment. Students explore a wide variety of materials and techniques while building confidence and craftsmanship.
2D Art includes drawing (pencil, charcoal, ink), watercolor, acrylic and tempera painting, collage, printmaking (relief and mono-print), mixed media, perspective, shading, color theory, and design principles.
3D Art explores clay (hand-building and sculpture), wire sculpture, plaster forms, metal embossing, recycled material design, and mixed media sculpture with a focus on structure and form.
Fiber Arts includes weaving, sewing, embroidery, needle felting, latch hook rug projects, macramé, yarn work, encouraging creativity through texture and pattern.
Students also connect their artwork to art history, cultural traditions, and contemporary artists while developing problem-solving, collaboration, and creative thinking skills.
